Requirements - First Issuance

1. Completion of the first year of the required teacher intern coursework in an approved Iowa teacher intern program (Drake, Morningside, or RAPIL).
2. Mandatory reporter training for child abuse.

Full teaching instruction within grade levels and endorsements listed on the license. Not eligible for conditional licensure.

Renewals

Non-renewable.

Extension

No extensions.

Conversion

Apply for the initial teaching license after the internship year once all program completion requirements have been met, including remaining coursework and testing.
