Requirements - First Issuance

Eligible to hold (or holds) Initial CTE Authorization.

Completion of the required CTE pedagogy coursework. 

• Methods of career and technical education
• Curriculum development
• Measurement and evaluation of programs and students
• Human relations for educators
• Exceptional learners
• Ethics training

Term

5 years

Authority

Limited to career and technical fields listed on the authorization. Not eligible for conditional licensure. 

Renewals

6 renewal credits and the mandatory reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse.

OR

Verification of a Master's degree or higher, at least 10 years of PK-12 licensed experience, and the mandatory reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse. Substitute experience may count as years of experience if an individual is able to verify at least 91 days of substitute experience per year of experience.

Extension

Yes - if more time is needed to complete renewal requirements.

Career and technical areas include but are not limited to areas such as construction, plumbing, electrical, welding, auto body/mechanics, drafting, agriculture, culinary arts and nursing.
