A unique statewide student identifier is required for every public school student in prekindergarten - 12th grade in Iowa. This identifier, called the Iowa Student State ID, is assigned by the Iowa Department of Education using the State ID System.
Access to the State ID System is available to authorized personnel only through the Iowa Education Portal. Authorized personnel with building-level-only access must click on the drop-down box under their name in the upper-right-hand corner of the portal screen and select their building name.
