Iowa GROWS

Funded by a State Professional Development Grant (SPDG), Iowa Growing and Recruiting and Outstanding Workforce for Students (GROWS) is a strategic initiative to transform Iowa's special education workforce by creating accessible career pathways that support the preparation of 100 special education teachers through apprenticeship. Sixty state-owned, evidence-based professional development courses to strengthen the skills of every educator serving students with disabilities will also be designed.

Licensure Pathways Enhancement: Curriculum Development Grant

The Licensure Pathways Enhancement (LPE) provides structured support to participating Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) to strengthen special education registered apprenticeship pathways. Iowa GROWS will award LPE grants to IHE partners to support the revision, development, design, pilot, and implementation of special education licensure coursework in addition to the related instruction and on-the-job training components of the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship model.
