An Iowa STEM Youth Ambassadors Group, formerly known as the Youth Advisory Board, was established under the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council in 2017. The Youth Ambassadors Group is instrumental in contributing to the STEM Council's mission and inspiring Iowa youth in STEM through peer-to-peer engagement.
The Iowa STEM Youth Ambassador Group is comprised of Iowa youth from middle school to college age who have a passion or interest in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
The Iowa STEM Youth Ambassador Group aims to:
- Provide a youth perspective to Iowa STEM.
- Expand Iowa STEM’s reach to Iowa youth.
- Be a community STEM advocate.
- Engage with Iowa STEM events.

Application
New and returning applicants will answer a series of essay questions about their qualifications, STEM interests and reflections. New applicants will also need to submit a signed media release (linked below) and a letter of reference from an unrelated acquaintance (up to one page).
- New applicants under 18 years old, please submit a signed parent/guardian permission form.
- New applicants over 18 years old, please submit a signed media consent form.
All materials associated with the application, including the media release and reference letter for new applicants, must be emailed in PDF form to info@IowaSTEM.org by the application deadline.
Applications will be scored according to the appropriate rubric
