The Iowa Blue Ribbon Schools program honors exceptional schools across the state. Schools are nominated based on their overall performance from the Iowa School Performance Profiles.

Blue Ribbon recipients must score in the top 15 percent of all schools across the state. Additionally, all student groups, including racial and ethnic groups, English language learners, students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, and students with disabilities, must score in the top 40 percent.
