Our AmeriCorps College Coaches are available to assist high school students through the college-going process. You can meet with them virtually to receive college-going assistance on topics such as, FAFSA completion and assistance, completing college applications, preparing for college, and more!
Katy Ammon currently attends Drake University Law School with hopes to work in securities or tax law. Katy is looking forward to serving as a College Coach with the Bureau of Iowa College Aid because she enjoys helping others with academics and educational planning. In her free time, Katy enjoys tutoring students in economics, spending time with friends, lifting weights, and cooking.

Jessica Rodman is currently pursuing her master's degree in agricultural education at Iowa State University. Jessica is excited to serve as a College Coach with the Bureau of Iowa College Aid because she enjoys helping people move through their educational journey. In her free time, Jessica can be found reading a good book, hanging out with her dogs, or doing just about anything outside.

Trinity Woody currently attends the University of Iowa while majoring in dance and art management. Trinity is looking forward to serving as a College Coach with the Bureau Iowa College Aid because she enjoys being a resource to her fellow peers who are furthering in their education. In her free time, Trinity bakes different desserts, crochets and watches figure skating.

Jared Zack currently attends Drake University Law School and aspires to work in healthcare law. Jared is looking forward to serving as a College Coach with the Bureau of Iowa College Aid because he enjoys helping first generation and low-income students. In his free time, Jared enjoys reading sci-fi and philosophy books, playing video games and spending time with friends and family.

Montala (mon-tay-la) Carruthers is a first generation college student who received her bachelor's degree in public health with University Honors from the University of Iowa in May 2024. While at Iowa, she also minored in criminology and earned a certificate in resilience and trauma informed perspectives. She is currently taking a gap year before she pursues a masters degree in public health or public policy.
Montala currently works as a certified pharmacy technician and a behavioral health coordinator. In her free time, she enjoys being outside with her two dogs, taking road trips, dancing and binge watching Netflix. She looks forward to being a College Coach with the Bureau of Iowa College Aid because she served as an Honors Peer Mentor throughout college and she loved helping students shape their educational journeys in ways that made them excited to continue learning!
