Student identification cards issued after July 1 must now include information for Your Life Iowa, the free and confidential statewide crisis line.

Established through House File 602, any public school that issues student identification cards for grades 7-12 must include contact information for Your Life Iowa or any successor program. School districts may also opt to provide the information for identification cards in grades 5-6.

The inclusion of Your Life Iowa on student identification cards will better ensure students across the state have access to help and resources. Services are confidential, non-judgmental and are intended to support anyone who needs assistance.

School districts can choose from 18 different templates provided on the Your Life Iowa website. The free templates come in various colors and fit a standard-sized identification card.

Your Life Iowa is the 24/7 statewide resource that can provide information and support for individuals looking for assistance with mental health, substance use, gambling, suicide and other concerns. Services are open to all ages and income levels, and trained professionals can be contacted through phone, text, chat and email.

Schools that have a supply of unused student ID cards may use that supply prior to meeting this new requirement.
