How is Iowa supporting the development of computer science educators in this fast-growing and challenging field? Take a look. A new video highlighting the 2023 Computer Science Professional Development (CS PD) Week has recently been released and features the many opportunities educators had to learn, network and celebrate their work in computer science.

CS PD Week was held at the University of Northern Iowa and Waterloo Career Center campuses and offered over 30 immersive, hands-on sessions on computer science. Nearly 300 Iowa teachers, administrators, counselors and other staff attended this year’s week-long event.

“CS PD Week is a great opportunity to support Iowa’s computer science teachers and their growth within the field,” said Justin Lewis, computer science consultant for the Iowa Department of Education. “This short video helps us capture the energy of CS PD Week and spotlights real teachers who share why they wanted to attend the training.”

The 2023 CS PD Week was sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education, Iowa’s Area Education Agencies, NewBoCo and the University of Northern Iowa. Plans for next year’s event are already underway, and further details will be released this fall.
