As part of Gov. Reynolds’ state government alignment, Iowa College Aid, the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, the Iowa School for the Deaf and the Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired will come under the Iowa Department of Education’s umbrella effective July 1.

The change is being made as part of a broader state government alignment to bring together entities working with similar subject matter. Iowans can expect the same quality services they have come to expect while benefiting from strengthened connections and coordination between programs.

“This alignment will streamline the services we provide for Iowa’s students,” said Mark Ford, chief operating officer at the Iowa Department of Education. “We will now be better positioned to efficiently meet the needs of the state’s education system.”
